The Framery One Essentials is the booth most offices mean when they say they want a phone booth: a free-standing, properly soundproofed room for one, that plugs into a socket and needs no building work. This guide covers what the Framery One actually gives you, how quiet 30 dB really is, what to check before you buy one, and the honest difference between buying new from excess stock and buying second-hand.
What is the Framery One Essentials?
Framery makes acoustic pods, and the Framery One is its single-person booth. The Essentials specification is the straightforward version of it: the same shell, the same acoustics and the same ventilation, with a height-adjustable desk, a height-adjustable seat and a footrest inside. The one we are selling is finished in black — black matt frame and door, ultra matt black exterior — with a Pure Grey interior fabric and a Light Grey carpet.
It stands 1220 mm wide, 1000 mm deep and 2255 mm high, and weighs 325 kg. It is a serious object rather than a screen with a roof, and that weight is part of why it works acoustically.
Who actually needs a phone booth?
Booths earn their keep in open-plan offices where calls have nowhere to go. If your meeting rooms are permanently block-booked by people taking one-to-ones, or your team has drifted into taking calls in the stairwell, a booth is the cheaper and faster fix — no landlord consent, no partitioning, no dilapidations argument when the lease ends. It goes in, and when you move, it comes with you.
The single-person size suits phone calls, video calls and an hour of focused work. If you need two people sitting across from each other, you want a larger pod instead.
How quiet is 30 dB, really?
The Framery One Essentials is rated at 30 dB of speech level reduction under ISO 23351-1. That standard matters: it was written specifically to measure how well a booth contains a conversation, rather than how much general noise a panel blocks, so the number is directly comparable between products that quote it.
Thirty decibels of speech level reduction means a normal speaking voice is not intelligible to someone working alongside the booth. You will know somebody is in there. You will not be able to follow what they are saying, which is the thing that actually breaks concentration in an open-plan room.
What is inside the booth?
Desk and seat
The desk is height-adjustable, in oak veneer with a plywood edge, so the booth works seated or standing. The seat is height-adjustable too and comes with a footrest, upholstered in Graphite.
Power and connectivity
The control panel carries one power socket and a 65 W high-power USB-C, which is enough to run and charge a laptop without a separate adapter. The booth includes a 4G module for updates and digital services, Framery Connect.
Light and air
There is an occupancy light so people can see at a glance whether the booth is in use, air flow, and LED ceiling and wall AV lighting. The door is right-handed.
New from excess stock, or second-hand?
We sell both, and they are genuinely different purchases. Excess stock is new and still in its original packaging — usually surplus from a cancelled or over-ordered project. This Framery One Essentials is excess stock: it is new, boxed, and has not been installed anywhere.
Second Life is our pre-owned side: showroom display, ex-demo and refurbished pieces, each graded fair, good or excellent before it goes on the site. If you want the thing new, with everything untouched, excess stock gets you that without paying list price.

What to check before you buy a phone booth
- Height, not width. At 2255 mm the booth is taller than many internal doors. Check the route in: door heights, ceiling height, and the lift dimensions if it is not going on the ground floor.
- Floor loading. 325 kg on a small footprint is worth a word with your building manager in an older building or on an upper floor.
- Door handing. This one is right-handed. Think about which way it opens relative to the wall and the walkway beside it.
- A socket within reach. It plugs in, but it still has to plug into something.
- The acoustic figure and its standard. A dB number without a standard beside it tells you very little. Look for ISO 23351-1.
